PURPOSE:To enhance the sensitivity and to stabilize the characteristics to repeated use by forming a charge generating layer contg. a specified disazo pigment and a charge transferring layer contg. a specified fluorene compound on an electrically conductive support. CONSTITUTION:A prescribed amount of a disazo pigment represented by formulaIand a prescribed amount of a binder resin are dissolved in a solvent such as THF to prepare a coating soln. for a charge generating layer. A fluorene compound represented by formula II[where R1 is H, halogen, cyano, 1-4C alkoxy or 1-4C alkyl, and Ar is a group of formula III or IV (where R2 is 1- 4C alkyl, and R3 is H or the like)]is dissolved in a solvent such as THF to prepare a coating soln. for a charg transferring layer. Said coating solns. are applied to an electrically conductive support 11 of Al or the like to form a charge generating layer 22 having 0.01-5mum thickness and a charge transferring layer 33 having 2-100mum thickness.
