Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the efficiency of a Stirling engine by providing a preheater with almost-triangular-tooth-shaped heat exchanging fins on the periphery of a cylindrical fire-proof wall of the engine for exchanging heat efficiently between combustion exhaust gas and combustion air. CONSTITUTION:A Stirling engine 1 is provided with a combustion chamber 21 to ignite and burn the mixture of the fuel controlled by a control valve 3 and the air from an opening 20a by an ignition plug 4 on the upper part of its heater head. The gas burned together with the air in a secondary air hole 14 is conducted from a fin 1a of the heater head through the rear side of a furnace wall 18. It passes through the one side of a heat exchanger 11b bent into almost triangular tooth shapes as preheating the combustion air passing through another side up to several hundred degrees, and is exhausted from a hole 8. The above- said combustion air preheated is conducted through the opening 20a and spiral fins 14 for respectively contributing to the combustion.
