Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a formed article having good dimensional accuracy using an inexpensive mold for injection molding, by a method wherein a rib or a boss which has been separately molded are placed on an upper mold or a lower mold opposed to a vacuum forming mold for a formed body main body, the jointing part of the rib or the boss is melted by heating and is integrally melt-bonded to the main body at the time of forming the main body.
CONSTITUTION: The previously molded rib 2 or the boss 3 is placed at a predetermined position of the upper mold 5 fitted to a vacuum forming material, then the forming sheet is heated and is formed by the vacuum forming mold 4 to obtain the formed article main body 1. Simultaneously, the jointing part of the rib 2 or the boss 3 is melted by heating with a hot plate 6 or the like, and the upper mold 5 is lowered to bond the jointing part to the main body 1, followed by cooling and mold releasing to obtain the formed article 1 having the rib or the boss. Accordingly, a small mold can be used for injection molding the rib or boss component part, a vacuum forming mold can be used for forming the main body and an epoxy or other resin mold may even be used, so that the mold can be fabricated inexpensively. In addition, since the melt bonding of the rib or the boss is conducted simultaneously with the forming of the main body, a formed article having good dimensional accuracy and accompanied with little variations in bondng strength can be obtained.
