Abstract

PURPOSE:To make the temp. distribution of a cylindrical roll approximately uniform over the entire width inexpensively with a simple shape, and prevent fixing irregularities, creasing and the like by making the inside diameter near the end parts of a fixing roller larger than that of the central part. CONSTITUTION:A fixing roller is constituted of a metallic cylindrical roll body 6 containing a heater 5, and is provided with boss parts 7 and shaft parts 8 at its end parts. A step part 9 is formed near each end part on the inside circumferential part of the roll body 6, and its inside diameter phi2 is set larger than the inside diameter phi1 near the center. If with such constitution the roll body 6 is heated with the heater 5, the end parts are heated earlier because these parts are thin walled and this results in that heat escapes to the boss part 7 sides; in the end, the temp. rises roughly equal in the central and end parts throughout the entire part of the roll, thus the temp. distribution is made approximately uniform over the entire width, and fixing irregularities, creasing, etc. are preveted.
