Abstract
PURPOSE:To repress decay of surface charge of a toner due to humidity change by adding a metal-containing dye and a specified organic compound to a binder resin. CONSTITUTION:A binder resin, such as polystyrene; carbon black; a metal-containing dye, such as 3,5-ditertiarybutylsalicylic acid chromium chelate; and a compound represented by the formula (I) are mixed and crushed in a ball mill, then, molten and kneaded with a roll mill, pulverized after cooling, and classified to give a 3- 20mu fine toner. A magnetic powder may be added to the toner when needed. The metal-containing dye is used as a toner charge controller, and an amount of it to be added is 0.1-10wt% based on the binder resin. An amount of the compound of the formula (I) added is preferably 0.1-10wt% based on the binder resin. In the formula (I), X is alkyl, OH, phenyl optionally substituted by sulfo or its salt, or anthraqunone group substituted by OH or alkyl.
