Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable to provide an effective vibration proof support against horizontal vibrations without generating any rolling by a method wherein the ratio of the volume of an air chamber to the pressure-receiving area of the chamber is set to be 1 (unity) or below. CONSTITUTION:The ratio of the volume Vs to the pressure-receiving area Ac of the air chamber 5 formed of an upper metallic member 1, a lower metallic member 2 and a rubber plate is set to be 1 (unity) or below. In practice, the condition of Vs/Ac<=1 may be realized by setting the height H of the air chamber 5 to be extremely low. A practical range of the ratio Vs/Ac is preferably 0.2- 0.3. By setting the value of Vs/Ac to be not larger than 1, the vertical spring constant Hv becomes about 10 or more times of the horizontal spring constant Hs. Accordingly, when a device generating horizontal vibrational forces is supported by this air spring, no rolling occurs and the horizontal vibration can be prevented effectively.
