Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable a long heat pipe to be continuously and readily manufactured, by a method wherein a metal strip and a strip-shaped wick are delivered being placed one upon the other, partition members are arranged on the wick, this is formed into a tubular shape with the metal strip outside, and the partition members are secured to the metal strip. CONSTITUTION:A metal strip 10 and a strip-shaped wick 11 are delivered being placed one upon the other and laterally bent by means of forming rolls 16, and from an inserting apparatus 18, partition plates 17 are placed so as to stand on the wick 11 at given distances. Moreover, this is passed through forming rolls 19 to form into a tubular body 10', which is completely butted by means of clamping rolls 20, and the butted part is welded by means of a welding torch 21b. Then, through a welder 22, the partition plates 17 and the tubular body 10' are welded together to form closed chanmbers. Then, the closed chambers are evacuated 24 and filled with an operating fluid 25. Thereby, a long heat pipe can be continuously and readily manufactured.
