Abstract

PURPOSE: To draw a thin-walled ingot in the narrowest part of the arc surfaces of both endless belts and prevent breakout and the distortion of an outside shell by juxtaposing wall bodies of which the opposite surfaces are made in an arc shape each other at a constant spacing, winding said belts on the arc surfaces and synchronously running the belts.
CONSTITUTION: A pair of wall bodies 1 are juxtaposed by leaving a constant spacing between each other, and support bodies 7 are disposed respectively to the top and bottom ends of the wall bodies 1 freely rotatably. Endless belts 18 are wound respectively between the upper and lower support bodies 7 in such a way as to enclose the walls 1. At this time, arc surfaces supporting the belts in an arc shape are provided in such a way that the mutually opposite central parts of both belts 18 go nearest to each other. Hence, a thin walled ingot is drawn from the narrowest part between both belts 18 along the direction tangential to the arc surfaces of both belts 18, whereby th exertion of the force in the thickness direction upon the parts unsolidified to solidifying parts of the thin- walled ingot is obviated and the generation of bending is obviated.
