Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a lead acid battery with a long life whose positive active material falls off and is softened to a small degree, by binding the circumference of an assembled element with a tape, before fixing and placing the assembled element in a container with compressive force. CONSTITUTION:The circumference of an assembled element 1 which is constituted of a pasted positive plate, a separator, a glass mat and a negative plate is bound with a tape 4 made of a plastic material such as a polypropylene or a polyvinylchloride. The ends of the tape are fixed by means of thermal fusion, hook, connection or the like at a fixing part 5, an assembled element 1 being tightly bound. The binding force pressing the positive plate should be over 20kg/dm<2>. The insertion work of the assembled element into the container is facilitated by making smaller the length of the assembled element, especially the length of the lower part of the element.
