Abstract
PURPOSE: To heighten stability when a ship is tugged or when it storms, by providing a floatig tower on the ship so that the tower can be freely turned up or down.
CONSTITUTION: The central part of a floating tower 5 is pivotally coupled in a recess by a shaft 6 to the part of a ship near the open end of the recess. When the floating tower 5 is horizontally laid down, it receives buoyancy and functions as a part of the ship. To set up the horizontally laid-down tower 5, a securing pin 8 is removed, water is poured into the ballast tank 10 of the floating tower 5 and a winch 9 for the tower is actuated. After the tower is set up, a securing pin 12 with a support 7 is fitted in a pin hole 13. The drawing also shows a working machine 3 and a vertically moving member 3a.
