Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the marine organism from sticking to the inside wall of an intake pipe by a method wherein hot waste water is poured periodically from a power plant into the intake pipe and the intake pipe is heated for a specified time.
CONSTITUTION: A buoy 1 is equipped on the upper part of an intake tower 3 of an intake pipe 2, a screen 7 is provided horizontally on the intake 6 part of the intake tower 3 and by guides 8 formed on the upper part of the screen, the buoy is placed on the upper surface 9 of the intake tower 3. A cylindrical pipe 11 is hung under the buoy 1 through hanging substances 12. This cylindrical pipe 11 is caused to stick fast to the inside wall of the intake tower 3 and to be free to slide in the intake tower 3. When the buoy 1 floats up, the cylindrical pipe 11 rise with the buoy in the intake tower 3 and chokes the intake 6. As this time, if hot water is poured from the hot water pipe 13 into the intake pipe 2, the hot water does not run out of the intake pipe 2. If sea water is poured into the buoy 1 and the cylindrical pipe 11 is caused to fall, the intake 6 opens.
