Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable the manufacture of a uniaxially oriented film provided with a sufficient strength by a method wherein, after a raw film material, either amorphous or of low crystallinity, is zone stretched under a specific temperature, it is zone- heat treated under a temperature above a crystallization while applying high tension strength.
CONSTITUTION: The raw film material 3 is amorphous or of low crystallinity to the possible extent. It is zone stretched under the temp. above the vitrification transition up to the crystallization while a heating furnace 2 is transferred, to obtain a high oriented film. The obtained high oriented film is placed under high tension strength while the furnace 2 is transferred, subjected to a zone heat treatment under the temperature above the crystallization to obtain the titled film. By providing slit type heating furnaces at plural locations equally spaced between each thereof, continuous operation of both zone stretching and zone heat treatment is enabled.
