USE: Useful in the field of perfumery as a long-lasting perfumery, perfume imparting agent, and perfume modifier, having fresh green note and unique fruity and green perfume. For example, the compound is applicable in the field of cosmetics, health drugs, sanitary drugs, pharmaceuticals, etc., and is also useful as a synthetic intermeidate for other perfumery materials.
PROCESS: The compound of formula I is prepared by contacting a 5-substituted-1- decene of formula II with ozone at -78W+30°C, pref. -78W-30°C, and reducing the product with a reducing agent such as zinc powder, triphenyl phosphine, etc. at -30W+20°C, pref. -10W0°C.
