Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable the defrosting operation only at the time of frosting by a method wherein two thermal sensors are fitted to the place where the wind velocity is large and that where it is small of an airing route, respectively by one, and the defrosting operation is controlled by utilizing the difference in the speed of frosting due to the velocity of wind.
CONSTITUTION: Thermal sensors 3 and 4 on low- and high-temperature sides are provided respectively on the outward side where the wind velocity is small and on the inward side where it is large, both being on the leeward of a heat exchanger 1 positioned on the outside of a room, while a detecting device 6 detecting the difference in temperature between both sensors 3 and 4 and giving a signal to a defrosting operation circuit is provided. Under the condition that no frosting occurs, the detected temperatures 9 and 10 of each thermal sensor 3 and 4 on low- and high- temperature side respectively are found between the open air temperature 7 and that of a refrigerant 8. When the frosting occurs, however, the detected temperature 9 of the sensor 3 comes near to the temperature of the refrigerant 8 and the difference is produced from the detected temperature 10 of the sensor 4. The difference in temperature at this point of time is detected by the detecting circuit 6, which sends a signal to the defrosting operation circuit, thereby the defrosting operation being performed.
