Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a chip dresser capable of dressing a chip automatically with high efficiency, by equipping a prescribed grindstone in a gear-grindstone case that rotates engaging with a gear equipped around the rotary sprindle of a motor. CONSTITUTION:Gear 4' is fitted to case 1 and gear-grindstone case 8 is freely rotatably equipped to case 1 and case lid 2 via bearing 5. Grindstone case part 8' of case 8 is equipped with grindstone 10 having chip forming polishing part 9 in the same shape with tip part 13' of chip 13 to enable said case to rotate as motor 6 rotates. In operation, a gun turns with the instruction of a memory device after welding operation is completed to some extent, thereby mounting the tip part of the chip on forming polishing part 9 of the grindstone. Next, motor 6 starts rotation to turn grindstone 10 for the dressing of the chip. As for grindstone 10, various grindstones having polishing part 9' formed by using such as a natural stone as a base material, and polishing part 9'' formed by using soft steel as a base material, and by melt-spraying sintered carbide are used.
