Abstract

PURPOSE:To stabilize the combustion of a liquid fuel for a long time period by a method wherein a sucking-up member for the liquid fuel is composed of a porous member comprising calcium silicate as a binding agent. CONSTITUTION:A sucking-up member (wick) 5 for a liquid fuel is composed of a porous comprising calcium silicate as a binding agent, whereby the formation of unburnt reaction products such as soft carbon and tar liable to be formed at the evaporation portion of the sucking-up member 5 is restrained and the unburnt reaction products, if any, are decomposed. Therefore, it is possible to evaporate the liquid fuel stably and to stabilize a favorable combustion for a long time period.
