Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the detecting device for the height of the vehicle which is simple in construction and easy to fit by enabling detection of the height of the vehicle in the front and rear parts of the four-wheeled vehicle by using one detecting elememt. CONSTITUTION:When the height of the vehicle is large, a swing arm 6 rotates as shown by a chain line 6' and thereby a beam 16 connected to a shaft 12 is moved as shown by a chain line 16'. In this case, the effective length of the beam 16 in the horizontal direction changes by 2delta. However, the change in the shafts 11 and 12 is absorbed by an elastic body 13 inserted between tubular bodies 14 and 15 and thus no bend is produced in the beam 16, and therefore, the displacement (h) of the beam 16 in the vertical direction is detected correctly by the detecting element 17. Since this displacement is proportional to the change in the height of the vehicle, the nearly fixed height of the vehicle can be retained irrespective of the weight of loading, etc. by controlling the height of the vehicle with the output of the detecting element 12.
