PURPOSE:To shorten the transmission time of Japanese character data, by composing the character data of two byte, by comparing the 1st byte of one character with that of the following character and then by omitting the transmission of the 1st byte of the following character when the comparison result shows coincidence. CONSTITUTION:In data compression part 12, Japanese data from register R1 is transferred to transmitted register R2. Coincidence detector COIN compares the contents of register R3, i.e. the contents of the 1st byte preceding by one data with the contents of register R2, i.e. current data and, when the both coincide with each other, reads the next data into registers R1-R2 immediately without transmitting any data to a communication circuit. When the comparison result shows dissidence, a shift pulse is sent to register R2 to send the data to the communication circuit and after all digits are transmitted, the contents of register R1 are read into register R2. Those operations are under the control of clock control circuit CL-CONT.
