Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent an unexpectedly large amount of gas from flowing althrough a large amount of gas is made to flow for an instant at the time of ignition by a method wherein the plural number of projections are provided on different levels alternately at suitable intervals in the passage between the valve seat and spherical valve of a gas apparatus.
CONSTITUTION: A valve seat 2 and projections 4 are provided in a gas passage 1, and a spherical valve 3 is stably placed on a support 7 having a saucer 6 at an upper end projected from a blind lid 5 placed at the lower end of the body proper (a). When a large amount of gas flows in the gas passage 1 because of an unexpected accident, the sperical valve 3 is elevated and pressed against the valve seat 2 because of the pressure to close the passage 1. However, when a large amount of gas flows for an instant at the time of ignition, the spherical valve 3 is slightly elevated, but the valve touches the projections 4 while going up. Thus the flow of gas is returend to the normal condition before the spherical valve reaches the valve seat, which descends to the specified position above.
