Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the physical characteristics of a developing powder by using a mixture of styrene-acrylic polymers, as a binding resin for the powder, which are different from each other in average mol. wt. and the glass transition temp. of the contained homopolymer.
CONSTITUTION: A mixture of two kinds of polymers each consisting of (substituted) styrene and alkyl (meth)acrylate is used as a binding resin for a developing powder used in electrophotography, electrostatic recording, magnetic recording or other method. The average mol. wt. of one polymer is made higher than that of the other polymer, and the glass transition temp. of the alkyl (meth)acrylate homopolymer contained in one polymer with a higher average mol. wt. is made lower than that of the alkyl (meth)acrylate homopolymer contained in the other polymer with a lower average mol. wt. Thus, the impact resistance, fluidity, etc. of the powder are enhanced, cohesion occurs hardly, and the powder is fixed at a low temp.
