Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable to detect dilute air-fuel ratio, by laminating the diaphragm layer, standard pole electron conduction layer, oxygen ion conductive solid electrolyte layer and measurement pole electron conduction layer and using the element of oxygen sensor between respective electron conduction layers of standard pole and measurement pole.
CONSTITUTION: The diaphragm layer 11 of the element of oxygen sensor 10 is composed of insulating material such as alumina, mulltie, spinel etc. and the heating unit 12 is provided in the inner part of the layer 11. The standard pole electron conduction layers 13, 14 divided in two layers, are laminated on the surface of the layer 11 and moreover, the oxygen ion conductive solid electrolyte layer 15 is laminated on said layers. Then, the oxygen ion is moved from the measurement pole electron conduction layer 16 to the layer 14 by supplying an electric current by using the element 10 and connecting the positive pole side of the direct current power source 18 with another layer 14. Thereupon, air-fuel ratio diluted more than logical air-fuel ratio, can be detected by measuring the electromotive force E generating in accordance with the difference of partial pressure of oxygen of said both poles by the measuring means 17.
