Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a polyester resin which is useful for manufacturing fiber, film, etc., having a higher light resistance, by adding a monovalent Tl compound and a divalent Mn compound to a polyester modified by a polyalkylene glycol (or its derivative).
CONSTITUTION: A modified polyester is obtained by blending or copolymerization of 100pts.wt. polyester and 0.5W80pts.wt. polyalkylene glycol (or its derivative). Then, the titled polyester composition, is obtained by mixing 100pts.wt. said modified polyester, 0.001W0.5pts.wt. (in terms of Tl metal) monovalent Tl compound (B) (e.g., thalium acetate), and 0.5wt% or less (in terms of Mg metal) divalent Mn compound (C) (e.g., manganese acetate), preferably with an ultraviolet ray absorber (D). The mixing of the components (B), (C), and (D) can be made at any stage from manufacture to molding to the polyester.
