Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled film in which Young's modulus is remarkably improved, by a method wherein a low-density PE having a specified heat-resisting temperature is extruded into a film at a resin temperature not lower than a specified temperature, and the extruded PE film is heat-treated in an unstreched state. CONSTITUTION:A low-density ethylene polymer having a heat-resisting temp. of 107-118 deg.C and a density of 0.925-0.939, or a copolymer of ethylene with an alpha- olefin and composed mainly of ethylene, is extruded into a film at a resin temp. of not lower than 260 deg.C. The resulting polyethylene film is left to stand in an unstreched state at a temperature which is 70-10 deg.C lower than the above heat-resisting temperature, or at a temp. of 40-95 deg.C for 1sec-15 days in order to heat- treat the polyethylene film. For example, a lap film-rolled package packed in a corrugated box is left to stand at a temp. of 40-70 deg.C for 2-15 days. Alternatively, a single-layer film is heat-treated in an oven kept at a temp. of 80-95 deg.C by an infrared heater, etc. for 1-50sec. The titled film having excellent transparency and remarkably improved Young's modulus can be produced at low cost with good productivity.
