Abstract

PURPOSE: To protect a vaporizing wick against overheating during combustion effectively in a combustion apparatus comprising a vaporizing chamber having a vaporizing wick disposed in a fuel reserving section at the bottom thereof, by supplying a larger amount of fuel than required for combustion to the fuel reserving section, and cutting away the portion of the wick located near a fuel return pipe.

CONSTITUTION: Oil in an oil tank 5 is supplied via an oil supply pipe 2 to an oil reserving section 17 at the bottom of a burner 1 by means of a pump 3. Oil in the section 17 is drawn up by a vaporizing wick 11 and vaporized by the heat of an igniting heater 18 at the time of starting the burner. The vaporized gas thus produced is mixed with air supplied from air ports 12, 13 in a vaporizing chamber 15 and then combusted in a combustion chamber 16. Here, since there is fear of overheating the wick 11 by the heat transmitted thereto from the combustion chamber 16, a larger amount of oil than required for combustion is supplied to the burner 1 by pump 3, and superfluous oil is returned from an oil return pipe 4 after cooling the wick 11 and section 17. Further, the portion of the wick 11 located near the oil return pipe 4 is cut away of preventing closing of the pipe 4 by the wick 11.
