Abstract
PURPOSE: To realize a reading with no erroneous identification and with us of the normal correcting method of miswritten character, by using a deletion mark which encloses a miswritten character with two closed loops and then setting the reading range of the substitute character in addition to the normal character reading range.
CONSTITUTION: The deletion make encloses a miswritten character in a square frame along the character frame and gives an oblique line from upper right to lower left to form the two closed loops. The deletion mark is scanned within the normal reading viewfield A, and the substitute character is scanned in the magnified reading viewfield respectively. When the deletion mark is identified by the deletion mark identifying device 13, the answer of the character identifying device 12 is erased by the answer compiling device 14 and at the same time fed back to the positioning device 11 to be scanned in the field B. In the field B the device 11 is restarted in order to retrieve the substitute character excluding the deletion mark part recognized precedently. The substitute character, if detected, is identified by the device 12, and the answer is compiled by the device 14 to be replaced with the precedent deletion mark.
