Abstract
PURPOSE:To develop both top blown and bottom blown advantages by a method wherein the quantity of pure oxygen blown from the bottom is controlled to 5-20% of the total oxygen needed for refining, and at the same time the quantity of hydrocarbon blown from the bottom is controlled to 10-20wt% of the pure oxygen quantity. CONSTITUTION:Pure oxygen is blown into the surface of molten iron, and at the same time pure oxygen flow enclosed with gas containing hydrocarbon is blown from the bottom into the molten iron so that the molten metal is refined into steel. In this process, the quantity of pure oxygen blown from the bottom is controlled to 5-20% of the total oxygen needed for entire refining process, and the quantity of hydrocarbon simultaneously blown from the bottom is controlled to 10-20wt% of the pure oxygen blown from the bottom. The process prevents the yield reduction of alloy iron due to insufficient agitation which is the defect of top blown method, and enables mass production, i.e., the advantage of the top blown method.
