Abstract

PURPOSE: To unnecessitate a cutting process and enhance productivity by a method wherein a V-groove part and a rotor part of a V-pulley are separately formed by pressing or forging, and the V-groove part is friction welded to a flange part provided at the outside periphery of the rotor.
CONSTITUTION: An outwardly extending stepped part 3 is integrally provided at one end of the outside peripherial part 1a of the rotor 1, while a groove member 2 is provided integrally with a bottom part 2a and lateral parts 2b by pressing. The inside diameter of the bottom part 2a of the groove member 2 is larger than the outside diameter of the outside peripheral part 1a of the rotor 1, so that a gap is generated therebetween. The member 2 is friction-welded to the rotor 1, with the outside surface of one of the lateral parts 2b of the member 2 contacted with the side face of the stepped part 3 of the rotor 1. Since the friction welding is conducted while coaxially holding the axis of the rotor 1 and the axis or the outside peripheral edge of the member 2 by a friction welding machine, the member 2 is prevented from deviating with respect to the rotor 1.
