Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:A hydroxypropyl etherified glycolipid ester of formula I [R<1> is methyl or H; when R<1> is methyl, R<2> is 11-15C saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group, and when R<1> is H, R<2> is 12-16C saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group; A is group of formula II; R<3> is 1-20C saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group or (A)h; a-h are integers; the sum of a-h is 1-60]. EXAMPLE:Polyoxypropylene[(2'-O-beta-D-glucopyranosyl-beta-D-glucopyran osyl)-oxy] alkanoic acid methyl ester which is light yellow paste. USE:A component of a suppository base, free from sweating, dusting and cracking. The compound is added to the base in an amount of 0.1-10wt%. PROCESS:Reaction of a compound of formula III (R<4> is H or 1-20C hydrocarbon) with propylene oxide in the presence of an alkali catalyst affords the compound of formula I.
