Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a regenerative pump of high efficiency free from turbulences, by providing a free flow passage and a guide vane to lead circulating flows accompanied with circumferential flows in a uniformly arranged state without giving any turbulence.
CONSTITUTION: A guide vane 6 is provided in a part of a free flow passage 5 of a casing 4, and the change of angular momentum given to fluid by the guide vane 6 is effectively used for the pumping action. In this arrangement, when a runner 2 is rotated, the fluid inside a vane 3 is led through a free flow passage 5 and a guide vane 6 and returned to the vane 3 in circulation. Thus, the fluid introduced from a suction port 8 may have its pressure raised as repeating circulations in the circumference of a pump, and conducted to a discharge port 9. This circulation in the runner 2 and the casing 4 of the pump can be smoothly lead from the vane 3 through the free flow passage 5 and the guide vane 6. Consequently, the pump can be prevented from such a drop of efficiency as caused by turblences in conventional regenerative pumps, and adapted for a high efficiency.
