Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the resolution of a colored part by mixing the high-frequency component of a luminance signal according to the magnitude of a color difference signal. CONSTITUTION:Nonlinear transmission characteristics are provided to the output of color difference signal source 11 to control variable gain amplifier 15. The high- frequency component is extracted from the output of luminance signal source 12 and modulated by a modulating signal that operates suppressively where a variation rate detected by luminance-level-variation-rate detector 21 is large. The gain to the high-frequency component of the output of modulator 22 is adjusted by the control signal of nonlinear transmitting circuit 13. Then, the output of variable gain amplifier 15, a color difference signal and luminance signal are added together by adder 16, so that the resolution of a colored part can be improved.
