Abstract

PURPOSE: To realize a photo A-D conversion circuit which does not require photoelectro and electrophoto conversion by using a semiconductor laser using a self- coupling effect as a photosensor, and combining this with a directional coupler type light modulator and photoswitches.
CONSTITUTION: The 1st photoswitch 14 is provided in contact with one end face of the output of a semiconductor laser 11, and the one output 15 thereof is approached to the physical quantity of changing reflectance so that the reflected light does not return to the other output 17, whereby the output of the laser 11 is made to the AC component coinciding with the change-over frequency of the 1st photoswitch 14. The 2nd photoswitch 18 provided to the other output end face of the laser 11 branches the DC component and AC component of the laser output. The 3rd photoswitch 20 and the 4th photoswitch 19 are connected to the two output ends, respectively, and the 2nd photoswitch 18, and the comparison of the AC component light signal and threshold value level is accomplished successively.
