Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a foamed material up to about 40 times by a method wherein a liquid foaming agent is impregnated in a polystyrene resin at a temp. of a softening point or less to form a gelatin like substance and this substance is molded into a shape similar to an objective molded article and, thereafter, foaming is carried out.
CONSTITUTION: The liquid foaming agent is impregnated in a polystyrene or a thermoplastic resin based on a polystyrene at a temp. of a softening point thereof or less to prepare a gelatin like substance. By processing this gelatin like substance into a shape similar to that of the objective molded article or by forming a metal mold for preparing said gelatin like substance into a shape similar to the objective molded article, said gelatin like substance is molded into a shape similar to the objective molded article. Subsequently, this molded substance is allowed to stand at a room temp. or heated to be foamed to produce the molded polystyrene molded article. By changing a foaming and standing temp. with time, a skin layer can be formed on an outer surface of the foamed article.
