Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent an isolation between the sensor element and the standard electrode and then increase the response speed, by forming the standard electrode of an oxygen sensor using the zirconia solid electrolyte by pressure forming and then burning to the specified standard material powder substance and then fitting such electrode into the sensor element.
CONSTITUTION: The bag-shaped sensor element 3 is produced with the ZrO2 solid electrolyte in order to secure an accurate control to the finish point of blowing process of the oxygen blowing furnace or the O2 dissolved in the steel. On the other hand, a little amount of polyvinyl alcohol is added to the mixture powder of the metallic chrome and the acid chrome in a ratio of 8:3wt%, and then heat-molded into a bar shape. The bar-shape product is then sintered at about 1,350°C in the Ar gas, and the rod 5 shaved off into the same form as the inside of the sensor 3 is fitted to the sensor 3. The Mo wire is inserted to the center part of the sensor to extract the electromotive force, thus completing a probe. As a result, the standard material 5 never comes off from the wall of the element 3 even in the fused steel (about 160°C), and accordingly the heat transmission is accelerated. The electromotive force of an oxygen concentration cell secures a balanced state in a short time to obtain an oxygen sensor having a high response speed.
