Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a low-toxic drug having β-blocking activity, and containing 1-(indolin-4-yloxy)-3-(isopropylamino)-2-propanol as an active component.
CONSTITUTION: A drug having β-blocking activity can be prepared by using 1- (indolin-4-yloxy)-3-(isopropylamino)-2-propanol as an active component. The active component is a novel compound synthesized and filed before by the applicant, and obtained by (1) heating N-benzyl-4-methoxyindoline with hydrobromic acid under reflux, (2) neutralizing the reaction product with NaOH, and extracting with benzene, (3) concentrating the extract to obtain N-benzy-4-hydroxyindoline, and (4) reacting the compound thus obtained with NaOH solution and 1-(N-benzyl- isopropylamine)-3-chloro-2-propanol.
