Abstract

PURPOSE:To effectively remove the choking of head by a cleaning method in which a moistened sponge material is pressed on the front face of a printing head and vibrated to wipe the nozzle out. CONSTITUTION:A nozzle 7 is cleaned by pressing a moistened sponge material 13 on the front face of the printing head of an ink jet recorder, having a system in which fine ink droplets are injected or stopped through the nozzle 7 of printing head A according to electric signal, and then vibrating it. The moistened sponge material is preferably obtained by impregnating a hard-to-voltatile liquid, e.g., ethylene glycol, etc., in a soft spongy material.
