Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent oxidation of fusible alloy and to improve conductive efficiency, by filling the closed narrow space between the fixed part and rotating part of electrode roller with a fusible alloy and an inert gas.
CONSTITUTION: Rotating part 20 is fitted to fixed part 10 of the electrode roller so that the rotating part will not rotate, and compressed nitrogen gas is jetted into narrow space 40 by inserting injection needle into injection port 33 and the air in the narrow space 40 is replaced with the compressed nitrogen. Then injection needle 51 of closed container 50 to be used for keeping fusible alloys is inserted into the injection port 33, and an inert gas, such as compressed nitrogen gas, etc., is blown into container 50 through its blowing port 52, and thus liquid fusible alloy contained in the container 50 is injected into the narrow space 40. At this time, a part of nitrogen gas contained in the space 40 is discharged through a discharge port 34. After the fusible alloy is injected, discharge port 34 and injection port 3 are closed and narrow space 40 is filled with the nitrogen gas and the fusible alloy. By this arrangement, the fusible alloy contained in the electrode roll will not be oxidized by contacting with the air and will maintain its efficiency as a conductive medium.
