Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the good floating characteristics even with a microamount of the ion etching of the 1st recess part, by providing the 2nd recess part at the air flow-in part side of the cross-rail part and outside the normal negative pressure generating surface which serves as the 1st recess part. CONSTITUTION:The positive pressure surface 11 of the negative pressure slider is the normal taper flat type slider, and the 1st recess part 21 serving as the negative pressure surface forms the reverse step bearing along with the cross-rail part 31. At the same time, the 2nd recess part 41 is provided at the air flow-in part side of the part 31 with formation of the positive step bearing between the parts 31 and 41. As a result, the positive pressure is produced via the parts 41 and 31, and the negative pressure producing efficiency is reduced by the mutual interference between the positive pressure and the part 21. Thus the good floating characteristics can be obtaind although the etching depth is small at the part 21, and accordingly the etching cost can be reduced.
