Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain high-quality pictures, by causing the light beam, which is modulated according to picture information, to scan through a regular 2n-angle rotating prism and by controlling the light quantity and the picture element generation timing by the n-period sine wave output from the rotation position detector which detects the rotation position of the rotary prism.
CONSTITUTION: The light beam modulated according to picture information is caused to scan through regular 2n-angle (for example, regular square) prism 21 to generate an n-period sine wave signal from rotation position detector 23 which detects the rotation position of prism 21. The output signal is input to differential circuit 25 through absolute value circuit 24, and the differential voltage between this signal and the input voltage from constant-voltage power source 26 is input to control circuit 28, and the semiconductor laser light source is controlled by the output to make the energy density of the light, which is emitted from rotary prism 21, constant. Meanwhile, the sine wave from oscillator 30 is input to the frequency modulator and receives the signal which is sent from absolute value circuit 24 through inverter 27, to obtain a prescribed modulation output, and it is caused to pass through waveform shaping equipment 31 and main control circuit 32 to send read information from buffer memory 33 to laser control circuit 28, thus giving high- quality pictures.
