Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce chemical consumption of active carbon and prevent self-destruction of active carbon, by giving such form to active carbon, which is charged in plural fixed floor type active carbon charging towers, that a high gap rate can be obtained and by giving a dust through form to fixed floors.
CONSTITUTION: In case that exhaust gas has been led into active carbon charging tower 5, exhaust gas in tower 5 is mixed with a prescribed quantity of ammonia gas and passes on fixed floor 7. On fixed floor 7, nitrogen oxides are decomposed into nitrogen by reaction with ammonia, and sulfur oxides are collected on the active carbon surface as sulfuric acid and/or its ammonium salt. Since active carbon of the dust through form such as a ring form, a pipe form, and honeycomb form is stored as fixed floors 7 and 8 in active carbon charging towers 5 and 6, fixed floors have a high gap rate and are held in the dust through state. For the purpose of facilitating charging active carbon, the cargridge system may be adopted for fixed floors.
