Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent plate breakage and form a good rolled plate by disposing a tension generating roll device on the outlet side of a rolling mill, disposing a tension controller to said roll device and so constituting these that the tension setting is increased or decreased by the signal of a rolled plate shape discriminating device. CONSTITUTION:On the outlet side of a rolling mill 1, pinch rolls 3 are disposed between the same and a tension reel 2, and these are so constituted that tension is generated in a rolled plate 5 by way of a drive unit 4. A speed control unit 7 for the pinch rolls 3, a high torque setting device 9, a low torque setting device 12, and a shape discriminating device 11 which discriminates the shape of the rolled plate 5 after passage through the pinch rolls 3 by way of a shape meter 10 are provided, and if necessary, these are so constituted that the switch 13 between the torque setting device 12 and an adder 6 is turned on and off. The rolled plate 5 is supervised by the shape meter 10. When it is in the state that the plate shape is difficult to cause breakage, a constant torque is maintained by the high torque device 9. When it is in the state that it is liable to cause breakage, the switch 13 is turned on and the signal is sent from the low torque devuce 12 to the drive unit 4 which in turn applies low tension to the rolled plate 5.
