Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the capacity of a buffer memory by equally dividing a buffer memory by three for facsimile, by pairing two parts for a recording part and read part and by using them for a data compression/expansion part sequentially by turns. CONSTITUTION:Of the facsimile equipment that scans 32 lines simultaneously, the 48-line buffer is equally divided by three. For a one-way scan, two parts (e.g. buffers A and B) are paired and connected to recording part WE (or read part) by switch SWII to perform recording (or reading) for 32 lines, and the remaining one part (e.g. buffer C) is connected to data compression/expansion part DCR by switch SWI for recording (or reading) for 16 lines. For a return scan, either of buffers A and B is connected to DCR to perform recording (or reading) for 16 lines. Therefore, the capacity of the buffer memory can be reduced in comparison with the conventional system that use two 32-line buffers by turns.
