Abstract

PURPOSE: To measure the outer circumference value of a spiral tube continuously and automatically by on-line by disposing a plurality of displacement meter heads separated from each other by a prescribed angle centering a standard center point of the spiral tube rotating in a circumferential direction.
CONSTITUTION: On two shafts intersecting at right angles therewith passing through a standard center 0 of a spiral tube 2, displacement meter heads 11W14 are provided. The respective measuring signals of the displacement heads 11W14 are input to a displacement measuring device 9. After said measuring signal is nonlinearly amended, it is converted into a digital signal by an A-D converter 10 and input into a computer 11. Said digital signal is stored in the memory devices 111W114 in the electronic computer 11. Four average radii subjected to the addition and average of (n) digital signals from each head is further subjected to the addition and average to thereby obtain an average radius of the entire circumference of spiral.
