Abstract

PURPOSE: To accurately detect recessed and protruded parts existing at part to be detected by disposing an element receiving light emitting element and reflecting light.
CONSTITUTION: The recessed and protruded parts detecting device 1 is moved in a direction of an arrow 3 with a fixed distance maintained with respect to a part to be detected 2. The detecting device 1 comprises a light emitting diode array 4 as light emitting device, a light receiving diode array 5 as light receiving device, a driving circuit 6, a distance discriminating circuit 7 a width discriminating circuit 8 and a signal processing circuit 12. The signal processing circuit 12 outputs, based on a distance information signal from the distance discriminating circuit and a width information signal from the width discriminating circuit 8, a recessed part detecting signal, protruded part detecting signal and a signal representing the position and size of the recessed part of the protruded part.
