Abstract

PURPOSE: To accelerate cutting work of a helical gear tooth on outer periphery of a work and also to improve durability of a cut edge and working precision by cutting a face rotating over the outer periphery slantingly upward from below.
CONSTITUTION: For cutting on a cut edge 9, the edge 9 is positioned so as to cut an outer periphery 3 on the side rotating upward 11, then the edge 9 is moved tangentially upward 11 at the same speed as that of the outer periphery 3, reciprocates slantwise, and is moved for cutting slantingly upward from axial end edge to center position of the face 3. In this case, the edge 9 moves, as reciprocating, from below a work 1, therefore the face 3 is cut at a portion near the edge 9 or axial center position thereof to form the first bottom 15. Thus cutting work of a helical gear tooth is accelerated on the face 3 of the work 1, and working precision can also be improved.
