Abstract

PURPOSE: To decrease abrasion of relief surface of a cutting tool by relatively swiveling a little or reciprocating a cutter or a gear to be machined in the right angle direction to axial reciprocating movement of a cutter in its eack stroke.
CONSTITUTION: Synchronized with every stroke of an axial reciprocating movement of a pinion cutter 10, the said cutter or a gear 11 to be machined is relatively swiveled a little or reciprocated in the right angle direction to the said axis. Thus, double cutting is performed with a periphery blade O' of a cutter C' and a side blade (L' or T') on either leading or trailing side, decreasing abrasion phenomena due to the chip interference and abrasion phenomena between a blade C' and a gear 11 to be machined due to the small cutting amount, thereby preventing abrasion of release surface of a cutter.
