Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the feed water pump from overheating, by keeping a predetermined flow rate of water automatically when the water flow rate of the feed water pump is decreased with reduction of the load of a boiler.
CONSTITUTION: As the amount of water discharged from the pump is decreased with reduction of the load of the boiler, the discharge pressure of the pump is raised gradually to a critical overheat region. In connection with the above, the tensile force of a resilient member 8 is so selected that a connecting port 10 of a piston 7 is communicated to a port 9 formed in a casing cover 5 by a discharge pressure CR at the point immediately before the critical overheat region. By the discharge pressure raised to CR-point, piston 7 is moved to the right in an ablong hole 6 and ports 9 and 10 are communicated to each other, so tht a part of discharge water, that is, an amount of water corresponding to the minimum flow is released, for instance, to a deaerator disposed on the outside of the pump. Therefore, it is prevented that the water flow rate in the feed water pump is decreased to a level lower than a predetermined value. Thus, overheating of a feed water pump can be prevented positively.
