Abstract

PURPOSE: A mold binder material for carbon dioxide hardening which is made easy to rap at room temp. and is improved of collapsing property by compounding a alcohol soluble phenolic resin, hydroxide (oxide) of polyvalent metals, hydroxide of alkaline metals, polyhydric alcohols, etc.
CONSTITUTION: A mold binder material for carbon dioxide hardening compounded with an alcohol soluble phenolic resin, hydroxide and oxide of polyvalent metals [e.g.; Ca(OH2)], water, hydroxide of alkaline metals (e.g.; NaOH), polyhydric alcohol (e.g., glycerol) and, if necessary, lower monohydric alcohol (e.g.; methanol). The composition for molds comprising this binder material and refractory material particles is hardened by blowing carbon dioxide gas which is safe to handle. In addition, the mold is rapped immediately at room temp., thus the mold of superior collapsing property of the mold after the pouring is produced.
