Abstract

PURPOSE: A heat-resistant binding material which is stable after mixing with refractory particles and capable of crosslinking gas-cured molds into a three dimensional strecture with an organic compound, comprising a novolak phenol-formaldehyde resin, a hydroxide or oxide of a multivalent metal, hexamethylenetetramine, and water.
CONSTITUTION: A binding material comprising (A) a nonolak phenol-formaldehyde resin, (B) a hydroxide or oxide of a multivalent metal, (C) hexamethylenetetramine, and water. The resin (A) is used in the form of powder, however, may be liquefied with an organic solvent and/or an aqueous solution of an alkali hydroxide. A hydrophilic solvent, e.g. methanol, ethanol, or acetone, may be used as the solvent; sodium or calcium hydroxide, as the hydroxide.
