Abstract
PURPOSE:To stably produce molten iron of less sulfur contents under a low fuel ratio and high working efficiency by using a slurrylike fuel made by mixing pulverized coal and desulfurizer into coal tar in place of a heavy oil to be blown together with hot blast from tuyeres during blast furnace operation. CONSTITUTION:A slurry fuel mixed with pulverized coal, desulfurizer and coal tar is blown together with hot blast through tuyeres at the blast furnace operation. The pulverized coal of <=5mm. sizes is mixed at about <=65% as the concn. in the slurry, and the desulfurizer such as CaO, Na2CO3, CaCO3 or MgO is added at <=50wt% so as to become <=65wt% in the total of the mixing ratio with the pulverized coal. Since inexpensive coal tar and pulverized coal are used as raw materials without the need for heavy oil, the stable operation may be performed at a low cost. In addition, the desulfurizer is added and therefore the S content of the molten iron produced is low and the out-of-furnace desulfurization operations are decreased.
