Abstract
PURPOSE: The reaction of thionitrate with an aminophenol gives the titled compound used as a medicine, intermediate of medicines or chemicals through simple processes.
CONSTITUTION: A compound of formula I (R1 is alkyl, aryl) such as tert-butyl thionitrate is made to react with another compound of formula II (R2 and R3 are H, halogen, alkyl or incorporate to form aromatic ring) in a solvent such as an alkyl cyanide or ether to give a compound of formula IIIa or IIIb. The reaction in the presence of a cupper halide under anhydrous conditions is preferred, because side- reactions are prevented.
